An early issue of this impressive work which was also issued by Orme as part of a larger work (under the overall title A Brief History of Ancient and Modern India) which could also include James Hunter’s Picturesque Scenery in the Kingdom of Mysore and F.W. Blagdon’s 22-page history. Abbey notes that ‘These three works are sometimes found separately and sometimes together’, however this latter combined form is found with inferior impressions of the plates and watermarks dating from as late as 1828 (see Abbey Travel II, 425). Cf. Abbey Travel II, 424; cf. Tooley 93.
