This beautiful map of India and Southeast Asia provides detailed coverage of the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, and parts of Tibet and China. The map accurately depicts the region, including countries like Thailand, Burma (Myanmar), Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malay, and Singapore. The map’s title cartouche, beautifully engraved, is located in the top right quadrant. Engraved by Guillaume Delahaye and drawn by Robert de Vaugondy, this map was part of Vaugondy’s Atlas Universal, one of the earliest atlases based on actual surveys. It offers a highly accurate representation of the region for its time, with contemporary town names correctly identified.
