Robert Home (1752-1834) arrived in Madras in 1791 without official permission from the East India Co, just as Cornwallis and his army were marching to Banglore. During his time in India, he made numerous topographical drawings, including these Select views in Mysore. For many years he was the chief painter to the King of Oude. It is said that he amassed a large fortune from his ceremonial paintings.
First Edition. Complete with 29 hand-coloured plates of views after Robert Home. A rare find.
Binding: Reback spine with original from and back boards. Gilt lettering on spine with raised bands.
Condition: An excellent tight copy with new end papers. No spots/foxing on pages.
