A beautiful six-volume set showcasing the architectural design of Jeypore, India. Prepared under the supervision of Colonel S. S. Jacob. Samuel Swinton Jacob was a British army officer who is best known for his architectural design work in India.
As the head of the public work department in Jaipur, Jacob built numerous buildings a structures throughout the region. Jacob was sympathetic to local traditional Indian design, and construction techniques, which set him apart from many colonial architects working overseas at that time. This interest in local design has undoubtedly influenced this work, which examines small architectural details with a keen interest in local design, this volume showcases the architecture of Jeypore.
Each volume explores an element of design, those being: copings and plinths, pillars, caps, bases, carved doors, brackets, and arches.

First edition. 6 volumes. Size: 54 x 37cm. Contains close to 375 Lithographic plates. Half cloth bound in a blue color protective hard case with leather spines and patch on front covers. Gilt lettering on the front cover and spines.
Condition: The pages are aged with soiling. Signs of restoration and sporadic minor foxing. A decent copy for the age of the book.
